Lawyers Allie Rattet and RyanChai decided on Maui for their 52-person party after defining their ideal celebration. “We wanted something personal and intimate with just the right amount of fun,” Allie says. Hawaiian fare created an immersive experience. First up, cocktail hour included ahi poke and coconut-encrusted prawns, and dinner featured Hawaiian inspired short rib, macadamia-nut-crusted chicken and mahi-mahi. Guests filled bags that read “bug bites” with malasada, or Hawaiian doughnuts, before the night was over. “Allie and I refer to one another as ‘bug,’” Ryan says of the unique touch. Allie’s parents’ vintage topper marked their French vanilla buttercream cake with guava filling, bringing a homey touch to their destination bash.
